Oh, what a night!

Last night was our first book signing at the new Interiors Marketplace and it was great!  Several people came out to have their copy of Our Vanishing America signed, and their picture taken with the author, Mike Lassiter.

An Evening with Mike Lassiter + AC!

Tonight Interiors Marketplace will host a book signing for Mike Lassiter (the attractive man pictured above) to celebrate the statewide release of his documentary, Our Vanishing Americana, on UNC-TV!

Mike first traveled across North Carolina in 2000 to write his book, Our Vanishing Americana: A North Carolina Portrait, which captures the iconic family-owned soda shops, general stores and hardware stores that will soon disappear forever.

He later realized that the people who own these shops are as much a part of the story as the buildings themselves.  So, in 2008, he set out again to film his documentary.  Our Vanishing Americanapremiered November 25th, 2009 in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties to rave reviews.  On July 1st  it was released to all of North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as parts of Virginia, Georgia and Nashville, TN.  A national release is expected in 2011!
